  briefhistory

The World Health Organisation (WHO) declaration of 1978 on “Health for all by the year 2000” and their programmes of action that essentially demanded that 25% of the world production of drugs should come from the Third World countries by the year 2000 gave birth to the establishment of NASDMU in 1998 by Nigerian Army authorities to compliment government efforts of producing effective, safe and affordable drugs for military personnel and their families in particular and the teeming population of Nigeria in general.

It was financed by the National economic Recovery Fund/African Development Bank (NERFUD/ADB) term loan.  The company has the capacity to produce 760 million tablets and 80 million capsules per annum.  It currently produces tablets and capsules dosage forms, with enough floor space to produce other dosage forms in nearest future.  NADMU drugs are produced under stringent Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) to guarantee quality and reliability.  Ranges of products are tailored to meet the peculiar need of the Armed Forces and paramilitary organizations.  The company has been duly registered with all the National Drug Regulatory Agencies, including National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Pharmacists Council of Nigeria (PCN) and the Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Group of Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (PMGMAN).  NASDMU products are known to have met the highest standard achievable, worldwide.

Its product ranges are Tab Nacemol, 500mg, Nasmoprim (Aspirin 300mg), Nasmoquin, (Chloroquine Phosphate 150mg base tab), Nampicilim 250mg (Amphicilin Trihydrate 250mg) and Namphenicol (Chloramphenicol Powder Levogyre 250mg), among others.

NASDMU Ltd has a constituted Board of Directors with Chief of Army Staff (COAS) as patron of the company.  Brigadier General IU Babangida is the Managing Director of the Company.
